At this scan, we focus on making 3D pictures in colour, as well as in black-and-white. The foetus is measured and all organs are examined.
3D-Scans week 24-32
A 3D scan:
- Shows life with heartbeat
- Assesses presence of single or multiple foetuses
- Measures the size of the foetus
- Estimates the weight
- Determines placement of placenta
- Measures amount of amniotic fluid
- Measures flow in the umbilical cord
You will receive 2D and 3D pictures in colour and black-and-white to take home. A photo album can be purchased in the clinic. It is also possible to receive the pictures by email. The 3D scan has a duration of approximately 45 minutes.
Get up close and personal with your baby with a 3D scan
With a 3D scan it is possible to see the foetus from a three dimensional perspective, which means you obtain almost true-to-life photos.
We recommend that you get your 3D scan, or the 3D/4D scan all inclusive, done between weeks 24 and 32. This is because at this time there is an optimal amount of amniotic fluid as well as the baby being well developed.
How is your baby developing and thriving?
In combination with the 3D scan we will thoroughly scan the foetus, to assess whether the baby is developing as expected. Amongst other things, we measure the amount of amniotic fluid, the size and weight of the baby, which we compare to an average growth chart for foetuses and potential previous scans you have had. Additionally, we measure the flow in the umbilical cord, to measure if the baby is receiving sufficient nourishment.
You are also able to find out the gender of your baby, however, if this is not desired, there is no issue in avoiding this.
Following the scan, you receive pictures to take with you home, both in colour and black-and-white. If desired, you can also receive the pictures by email. Additionally, a photo album and USB-stick can be purchased in the clinic.
